Want a wood sign? You may actually want HDU.
That is not a bait-and-switch. It is the same reason modern sign shops use aluminum instead of steel for some jobs: the material is chosen to produce the appearance and performance the customer asked for.
HDU is a closed-cell sign board that can be carved, routed, textured and painted. It does not have knots, grain direction or the same rot risk as natural wood. For an exterior sign that needs deep carving, dimensional letters or a convincing faux-wood finish, it is often the material we would choose for our own project.

From an idea to a sign you can install
- Send the basics. Dimensions, logo or reference image, intended location and delivery ZIP.
- Choose the right construction. We review wood, HDU, carving depth, dimensional parts and finish.
- Approve the design. Wording, colors, shape and key fabrication details are resolved before production.
- Fabricate and finish. CNC routing, assembly, priming, paint and hand finishing are completed to the approved scope.
- Inspect, pack and ship. The finished sign is protected for nationwide delivery and local installation.

Wood signage questions
Do you make real wood signs?
Yes when real wood is the right fit, but many customers are actually asking for the carved wood look rather than insisting on literal lumber. For exterior work we often recommend HDU because it can be carved and textured like wood while avoiding rot and grain movement.
What is HDU and why have I never heard of it?
HDU means high-density urethane. It is a professional sign board used for carved and dimensional signs. Consumers rarely know the material name because they shop by appearance—wood sign, carved sign, rustic sign or dimensional sign.
Can you make a sign from a logo?
Yes. Vector artwork is best, but a clean logo file, drawing or reference photo can be reviewed. We can build raised letters, carved backgrounds, shaped panels and dimensional logo components from approved artwork.
Where do you ship?
We manufacture in Atlanta, Georgia and ship custom signs throughout the United States. The standard service is fabrication and shipping; installation is normally handled locally.
